Welcome

Ok - so the idea of becoming a Reporter or Editor for People Web International interests you, but you would like to know briefly what it will involve, what time commitments will it take, whether you qualify and if you will be trained.

What it will involve?

You can become one of our Pressteam - a Journalist. Journalism was recently described by the Senate and the House of Representatives in the US as ""the regular gathering, preparing, collecting, photography, recording, writing, editing, reporting, or publishing of news or information that concerns local, national, or international events or other matters of public interest for dissemination to the public."

As a member of our Pressteam you will be given a Geographic Assignment based on where you live or where you spend significant parts of each week. You will have the role as a Reporter and Photographer for PeopleWebInternational in that geographic area, and in due course you will have your own web page and email address based on your assignment. Using this web page you will be able to add and amend news items from your area. Other members of the Pressteam will be appointed as Sub-Editors and Editors. Being an Editor involves selecting the best news items from the Reporters in your assigned Area and presenting them on your assigned web page. For example if a news item happened in your city, it would be posted on that City Editors PWI (peoplewebinternational) News web page. Then the Regional or State Editor would select the best of all the cities news items in that State or Region to produce a Region or State PWI News webpage. Likewise the Country Editor would select the best of the Region or State news items and they would be presented on the Country PWI News webpage. And so on and so on until  we have a world page with the top news items around the world - all with local input.

As one of our Pressteam then you will in due course receive your own webpage, hosted on our site, your own PeopleWebInternational email based on your assignment and many other support features that are part of the PeopleWebInternational.com site.

Privacy is useful for a reporter and vital in certain parts of the world, therefore throughout this site personal names are not revealed unless you choose to do so. This also means you can carry out your assignment effectively even if you also have a day job or other time commitments.

You do not have to Pay to become a Reporter or Editor - you just have to want to be part of the worlds largest and most independent News network where every report is written by someone local.

What about the time commitments?

If you love the idea but are worried about the time commitments - don't be - we do not expect you to change your job or lifestyle in order to become a Reporter/Photographer or Editor with us. One of the other reasons for us having to open the offices mentioned above is in order to give you 24/7 cover. If you are an Editor and you are sleeping or otherwise unavailable when a major story happens, one of our trained Sub-editors will deputise for you until you are available again. Likewise if we become aware of a major story breaking in your area, we will attempt to contact the local Reporter by whatever means have been agreed between us by that reporter - email, sms, skype etc. If that Reporter is not available we will contact the next nearest available etc etc, so you do not need to worry about over burdening your existing time commitments.

Do I qualify?

In order to qualify you need to be able to read and write in English (other language options will be coming in the future). In addition you must have access to the internet- either yourself or through a internet cafe or some other source. Finally you must want to become a Reporter for People Web International and be willing to be trained where necessary. That's it - if you can communicate in English, access the internet, want to  become a reporter and are willing to be trained, you qualify to become one of our Worldwide team of Reporters, Photographers and Editors.

What training will you give?

If you are excited at the opportunities available to you at PeopleWebInternational but are concerned that you have limited or no Press or reporting or editing experience, do not worry, we will fully train you. We have a step by step process so that you can become comfortable doing the role we assign to you.
